This short compendium is intended as a help forming a general view of how Jelling Musikfestival is organized. Also these pages should assist in completing the festival as well as possible.

The compendium includes all rider / additional technical contracts and all specifications will be current according to these contracts.

Please notice that all technical specifications for sound, light and stage etc. are in accordance with the standard of this festival.
Any special wishes beyond this will be at the artists own expence.

It may not be your first time here, - however things change and may not be the same as the last time you visited Jelling.
We continuously try to improve the festival and so – new ideas and initiatives arise at the same time.

We hope your appearance will be satisfactory and that your stay with us will be as comfortable and cheerful as possible.

Obviously we are at your disposal for any further questions.
Please try to respect the above mentioned deadlines and directions as much as possible.

The Festival Management 

The festival

Jelling Musikfestival is known for its very pleasant and friendly image and is an annual event. It always takes place the last weekend of May and has been running since 1989.
Jelling Musikfestival is an association with the purpose of holding / giving an annual musicfestival in Jelling.
Any possible profit from the event are being distributed through a foundation and given to different charitable cultural purposes.

The festival Management
The festival management is the responsible authority behind Jelling Musikfestival.

The management consists of:

Lars ”Charlie” Mortensen is the daily manager of the festivaloffice and responsible of the music.
At the festivaloffice Bettina Küsch is employd as a adm. coordinator and Lars Dam as practical- & technical coordinator.

Apart from the above mentioned, many volunteers are attached to undertake various tasks.
Within the music for example – there will be a Production Koordinator for all stages/production - and a stagemanager and a stagecrew at each stage as well as catering personel.

The audience

The festival has chosen to remain a certain size to keep up enough ”elbowroom” for everybody.
That is why 20.000 people on the festival ground is the absolute maximum.

The festival site

The festival is situated in a senic area on the outskirts of the town / village, - to be more precise At Mølvangvej 66b, just opposite the camping site.

Stages

Jelling Musikfestival has got 5 stages - “Main Stage”, Tentstage, Alfreds Stage, Søpavillon & New Stage
The various sizes of each stage can be found further down.

Merchandise

All artists are entitled to sell merchandise on the ground, free of charge.
However, any sale must be allowed by the stagemanager in charge.
Suitable tent (3x3 m) will be placed for merchandise.
This can be used max. 1 hour before and 1 hour after the artist is performing and has to be taken care of by the crew belonging to the artist.

The festival reserves the right to sell t-shirt with the names of all artists.

Security

Jelling Musikfestival has a nice and friendly audience.
Still security is of great importance.
The festival management has made a detailed emergency plan that describes the possible risks which can take place, when so many people are assembled.
Lines of command have been determined as well as procedures for handling accidents and conflict situations.

Jelling Musikfestival has a well-trained security corps which is prepared for whatever situation crop up.

First-aiders, nurses and competent personnel will be on duty all along the festival. Besides the fire authorities and police will be present.
Everyone behind this state of alert works closely together.

As mentioned before Jelling Musikfestival is a pleasant and friendly festival, and we put a lot of work into making people feel good and content.
Our security corps is to be regarded as a service, capable of estimating a risk and acting accordingly.
On the festival ground and by the stages all necessary precautions will have been taken.
The audience has been informed of the precautions in the festival programme, on our homepage as well as in the festival paper.

Apart from beneral consideration for one another, we point out to the audience that it is not allowed bringing bottles, cans etc onto the festival ground.
Equally we point out that stagediving, crowdsurfing, pushing and shoving is illegal in front of the stages!

On stage

We strictly point out that it is illegal for anyone on stage to encourage or incite the audience to inappropriate behaviour in front of the stages.
Bad behaviour easily gets out of control and will be of danger to the safety of the audience.
Among these pushing, shoving,jostling, stagediving and crowdsurfing.

On stage it is the responsible head of security and the stage manager who decide entirely if and when the music is to be broken off in case of emergency.

Parking

All vehicles that are to be parked in and around the backstage area, must get a driving- / parking permission from the festival office a fortnight before the festival at the latest! Please keep the permission in your windscreen so that it can be seen, -and don’t order more copies than your band needs, thank you.

Vans, lorries and trucks

All big trucks and busses are asked to follow the driving- / parking instructions carefully.
Please remember to keep your driving- / parking permissions in your windscreen – and make sure to get these a fortnight before the festival at the latest.

The festival has of course established safe carriage roads to and from the stages.
However, in case of any problems, a truck getting stuck, obviously the festival will help out, but will not be responsible for any car damage, doing this.

Lorries / trucks and busses parked outside the assigned area will be asked for removal. If this doesn’t happen, they will be removed without any responsibility.

At your arrival please use the entrance for artists/musicians. Here you check in and you receive your stage / backstage pass. Furthemore you’ll get the necessary parking instructions for the stage you’re going to.
Please follow all instructions!
It is very important that a list with names of all members of your staff is in our possession, no later than 2 weeks before the festival.

Passes

All bands with crew will receive pass at the specific entrance for musicians.
Besides all musicians, technicians etc. will receive a pass which gives access to the stage they are performing from.
This pass gives access to the very day of your performance only! The pass must be worn visibly!!

Guests / guests lists

According to contract backstage acces passes might be given to guests whom the artist want to meet in the backstage area.
Please notice that the festival office must have the guest list no later than 8 days prior to the start of the festival!

IMPORTANT! The festival office must have the guest list no later than 8 days prior to the start of the festival. Guest lists received later will not be met.
The festival reserves the right to estimate and refuse guest lists that appear to be unreasonable.

Electric power supply

During your stay at the festival qualified and professional electricians will be present and can be called upon at any time, if you have any questions or something you want done.
We clearly point out that all electric outlets will be kept according to Danish law.
Any exemption will not be granted!

Press

It can be difficult for the festival to form a precise view of which part of the press will be present. However, no one will get our permission to recording nor interview any artist, without concent of the artist or their representative.
The festival expects people to be favourably disposed to the press, as by this both the artists as well as the festival will be promoted.

Video

As a tradition the festival records a video every year for personal use only.
The video is produced by professionals, and the festival hopes that all artists will be sympathetic towards this.
Nothing is recorded without accept.
The video is for internal use only, but any artist who may be interested is welcome to ask for a copy.

Backstage

Jelling Musikfestival hopes that all artists and crew will have a nice and comfortable stay at the festival. Therefore we do our best for the backstage conditions. As the backstage area is the working area for artists, crew etc. we try to keep the area "chrildren-free-zone".

Furnished changing room will be as required.
All food and drinks will be taken care of by the festival’s service team. For any special wishes, please notify the festival well in advance.

Catering

The festival is open to many wishes, and will try to fulfil these as much as possible.

Apart from changing facilities there will be a shared area with a terrace. Here
performers and crew as well as others from the music trade can meet up and relax.
There will always be coffee and tea, a bite to eat, fruit and snacks etc. Equally there will be plenty of soft drinks, beer and wine.

Changing rooms

Changing rooms will be available 2 hours before ”showtime”, and have to be resigned from 2 hours afterwards at the latest, unless other special agreements have been made.
This must be observed!
Showers are available. However, the shower facilities are not in direct connection with the changing rooms, but only 500 metres away and still within the backstage area.

Time of arrival

In order to gain the best possible ”flow”, and everything as smooth as can be, - all technicians from each band must arrive with backgear etc. 2 hours before performing.
On arrival the respective stage manager has to be contacted about the setting up.
If pyro technic is to be used, the stage manager and the head of security must be informed!
It will not be possible getting on the stage until 1 hour before appearance at the earliest.

Schedule

Please keep the schedule! Incase of any delay due to technical problems, the one in charge of the music at the festival will decide, if the playing time has to be shortened.
Decisions made by the one responsible for the music, the stage manager andthe compere have to be respected.

Stagehands

On each stage there will be a stage manager and a team of experienced stage hands to help out.

Sound and light

The sound and light at the festival is being delivered by Nordic Rental.

Sound and light will be as specified. If no other agreements have been made, special wishes will be at the artists own expence.

Stage plan

Please send your stage plan and technical rider to Nordic Rental a/s , Helge Nielsens Alle 5, DK-8723 Løsning la@nordic.dk and to the stage manager involved too.
Also we would like to be informed if you plan to bring your own sound-and lightcrew.
The above mentioned information must be sent no later than a fortnight before
the festival.

Settling of accounts

Settling of fee takes place at the economy ”office” immediately after performance.
The economy ”office” is placed in the backstage area.
